So you want to start juicing?
Some of you may remember earlier this year I did a short term juicing period right before starting an alkaline diet. Now I usually get nervous when I hear someone is juicing just to lose weight I try to help them out by advocating juicing should be done to prepare the body for a change in diet. This is the best way to get your nutrients in in between a simple meal or just getting the body ready for like what I did.
So with this in mind, I wanted to give you notes I have taken along the way as the top 5 things you should know about juicing if you did it for at least 3 days. The nutritionist that I talked to did not recommend doing this longer than 3 days so I go off what I know from the pros.
5 Tips You Should Know Before Juicing
1. You will not be as hungry as your mind is telling you now. I know it sounded crazy to me to because I was expecting simple sugars to just rocket my hunger pangs but the juice really fills you up. In actuality, when it came time to chug another juice I was dreading having to drink another one saying oh man how am I going to drink all of this one.
2.Detox Mode Activated. Most people I know eat carbs and I would venture to say simple carbs the unhealthy ones so at day two there are headaches. OMG the headaches!!! Early in 2013 I had tried it and to be honest I stopped on day 2 because they were not pretty but back then I did not eat as healthy as I do now plus I threw in a little secret of mine this go round (secret weapon took my headaches away). For some the headaches are from the drastic change in foods for others its the lack of caffeine hence my secret weapon wiped both of those out for me this time. Trust me it will pass.
3. Day 3 Over the hill and energy levels sky rocket. Man I was in LOVE with how much energy I got beginning day 3. It was like a drank two red bulls and got my wings! Then combined with my secret weapon my focus and attention was out of this world just more so euphoric your body is in love with natural rush of vitamins and detox.
4. You will feel rested like a baby. The sleep is like if you are taking ZMA that feeling you get when you wake up like you have slept for 24 hours, WOW!
5. No working out while juicing. Yes, you read that correctly and good thing your only doing it for 3 days max right?! Plain and simply put you just are not getting enough calories and nutrients in for the types of workouts I am envisioning you doing in the gym (#beastmode). If you HAVE to workout then do little to none but light exercises you do not want to harm your body by doing cruel weight loss (you will probably lose muscle during this process and lose your tone look). So don’t try to be one of those that abuse this process and try to lose all your weight doing this yes you will lose some by process but not recommended to do this as your sole way of losing weight.
Juicing if you are doing it for the right reasons can help you change the way you think about eating a healthier lifestyle. Give juicing a try for a few days no more than 3 days at a time and slowly start changing your diet on the days your not juicing. This gives you a higher chance of success by slowing changing your eating habits versus jumping in cold turkey and getting tired of an entirely clean eating plan and jumping off the bandwagon. Remember, ultimately this is a lifestyle change not a diet.
