LDL actually clogs your arteries and this is what greatly increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Our bodies makes cholesterol in our bodies naturally but when we consume animal products that are high in cholesterol (examples: whole milk, butter, fatty meats) can increase the amount we are already naturally creating to dangerous levels.

Ok so I know we all get 1-2 cheat meals a week and living in Texas sometimes we eat to much Vitamin T (tacos, tamales and tortas) and this is high in cholesterol. When you eat a meal high in cholesterol like this if you do not drink fiber immediately after eating your body is going to metabolize the cholesterol and yes its going to your cardiovascular system. Drinking these fiber supplements high in psyllium husk help digest this out of the body by binding itself before it metabolizes.

Last fact regarding healthy heart facts is blood pressure and this is affecting a LOT of Americans. For some of us its hereditary but for many of us we can control it by just adjusting or removing one thing, salt. You see our diets we have all come to love or become accustomed to is high in salt and salt is linked to high blood pressure which is a big factor for heart disease. Here are little tips that add up to big results when it comes to salt so you can see how easily it is to adjust or control. Canned foods tend to be higher in sodium so if you can opt for fresh over can go for it and one huge one is when seasoning your meat or chicken use Mrs Dash’s seasoning which are sodium FREE and taste very good!
